At the night of 2nd April, Mr Shi Mingde, President of China Germany Friendship Association (CGFA), Former China Ambassador to Germany and China Ambassador to Austria, gave a lecture on the overall situation and development prospect of current Sino-German relation to about 250 graduate students at Huxi Campus, Tongji University at the invitation of School of Foreign Studies. President Shi has been dedicated to China’s foreign affairs to Germany and other countries in Europe for over five decades. He has made enormous contributions to China’s diplomatic work, has long been actively engaged in China’s diplomacy and keeping a close connection with political, economic, and social communities in Germany and other European countries.
In the two-hour lecture, Mr Shi summarized the distinctive features of German history and politics in simple language, illustrated the latest change of Germany’s current domestic and foreign policies, especially those related to China, and shared his long experience as a diplomat. He stated that, as a direct participant in Sino-German relation in the past decades, he witnessed the great progress of China’s rise and the practical result of Major-country Diplomacy, and despite the fact that Sino-German relation turns increasingly complex in recent years, he remains fully confident in its solid foundation and development prospect. Mr Shi’s report aroused hails after hails of applause and inspired great resonance and many questions from the audience. In the lecture, Mr Shi encouraged students to grow into pillars of the country to make their own contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
