On the morning of October 10, to celebrate the Chongyang Festival in China, the 9th annual series of events themed “Let the Light of Learning Illuminates Golden Years”, took place at Shanghai Education Television Station and the Peace Park. During the event, a plaque unveiling ceremony was held for the Tongji University Research Center for Aging, Language and Care and four other organizations, designating them as study bases for Shanghai Elderly University.
This event was guided by the CPC Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, co-hosted by Shanghai Open University, the Shanghai Elderly Education Association, and the Shanghai Elderly University Education Alliance, with Shanghai Elderly University as the organizer. The event received strong support from the Shanghai Education Development Foundation. Leaders and experts from various organizations, including the CPC Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Committee, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Open University, Tongji University, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Education Television Station, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the Shanghai Education Press Group, along with over 500 elderly learners from various educational institutions, came together to participate in the series of activities.
Since its inception in 2016, the Chongyang Festival “Elderly Elegance, Family Joy” event has been held annually for eight consecutive years, becoming a significant gathering in the field of elderly education in Shanghai. This year’s event was notable for its simultaneous indoor and outdoor activities, marking the broadest participation of organizations in its history. In the indoor activities, Shanghai Education Television Station, the Shanghai Natural History Museum, Tongji University Research Center for Aging, Language and Care, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Viking Cruises were designated as study bases for Shanghai Elderly University.
