Recently, the 2024 National University French Annual Conference and Forum on University French Teaching Reform and Development from the Perspective of Global Competence was held at the School of Foreign Languages. Liu Run, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the university, attended and delivered a speech. More than 70 experts, scholars and key French teachers from over 40 universities across the country participated in the conference to jointly discuss the current situation and future of university French teaching.
Liu Run stated that in the face of the challenges of globalization and AI technology, university French teaching needs to respond to the national education opening strategy, focus on cultivating global competence, and promote teaching reform and development, so as to enhance students' foreign language proficiency, international vision and cross-cultural communication ability, and help China play a greater role in global education governance.
This annual conference aims to enhance the awareness and ability of university French to serve national strategies, help cultivate high-quality, compound and international talents, and promote the high-quality development of university French teaching in the new era. The keynote report of the conference deeply analyzed the challenges and opportunities faced by university French teaching, and proposed a development strategy of adhering to integrity and innovation and expanding connotations. It also discussed new ideas for compiling French textbooks and emphasized integrating ideological and political elements and telling Chinese stories well. Participating experts made speeches respectively around themes such as education power and the high-quality development of university French teaching, the cultivation and development of global competence empowered by university French, and innovative practices in university French teaching. Experts also shared their own experiences and insights and demonstrated the latest achievements and innovative directions of university French teaching.
