Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the result of the 8th Award for Outstanding HEI (Higher Education Institutions) Research Achievements (Humanities & Social Sciences). ZHANG Delu, Distinguished Professor at Tongji University, won the first prize of the linguistic category for his book Multi-modal Discourse Analysis and Foreign Language Teaching.
The Award established by the Ministry of Education for HEI scholars in humanities and social sciences, gives recognition to the significant theoretical and practical achievements. It will help promote the development of economics in China and of social science theories with Chinese characteristics. Since its first establishment in 1995, the Award has become the most authoritative and influential award in the field of humanities and social sciences in China.
Professor ZHANG Delu who is devoted to the research of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), Social Semiotics and Multi-modal Discourse Analysis (MDA), is widely acknowledged both at home and abroad.
