The 6th Shanghai International Debating Championship unfolded at Tongji University from April 29th to 30th following two months of careful planning. The competition drew nearly 260 participants representing 84 debate teams from a broad range of cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, and international attendees from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the Philippines, and South Africa. The competitive lineup boasted many talented debaters who had previously graced various global and national English debate competitions.
In this intellectual arena, Peking University and Shanghai International Studies University stood out, clinching the Grand Prize. Meanwhile, Tongji University distinguished itself by securing the First Prize.
Concurrently, the organizing committee held a seminar on critical thinking education, designating Tongji's English Department as the "English Critical Thinking Education Center".The committee extolled Tongji's recent reforms in English critical thinking education and its success in the FLTRP Cup National University Student English Debate Competition. They also expressed enthusiasm for Tongji's ongoing efforts in critical thinking education.
